National Maintenance Week 2020

National Maintenance Week 2020

To mark National Maintenance Week (20th to 27th November 2020), we held two online Zoom talks in partnership with the Ireland branch of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) and the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society (UAHS).

The evening talks, which provided practical guidance on property maintenance with an emphasis on rooftop and chimney maintenance (two notable problems in Lurgan), were as follows:

  1. ‘Maintaining Chimneys, Roofs and other Lofty Building Elements’ by Lisa Edden of Cora Consulting Engineers (26th November 2020)
  2. ‘Maintaining Historic Brickwork’ by Susan Roundtree (24th November 2020)

Our thanks to Lisa Edden and Susan Roundtree for facilitating these useful presentations which were very well received by the 150+ people in attendance.

Thanks are also due to local architectural firm McCreanor and Company Architects who carried out a drone photographic and condition survey of the rooftops in Church Place, Market Street and High Street Lurgan, to supply content for each presentation. You can view some of the images below. We are now hoping to work with the property owners to carry out maintenance repairs to the roofs.
