VE Day 80: Digging for Victory
As part of the 80th anniversary of VE Day we are working with the Mourneview Community Group, and the ecoclubs in Carrick and King’s Park Primary Schools to establish VE day gardens.
During the programme the groups will designate some raised beds as ‘Victory Gardens’ and plant some of the common flowers, fruits, herbs and vegetables that were planted during wartime.
Along the way participants will also get a chance to try a few of the creative wartime recipes that were developed to make the most of what was available during times of rationing.
