Architect Ballymullan Architects
Projected Grant Aid £201,107 (67% of total project course)

Info

Mid-terrace two-bay two-storey, with attic, on the north-east side of William Street.

The house was constructed in around 1890 to plans drawn by the famous Belfast architect firm of Young and Mackenzie, under the instruction of John Long, owner of a plumbing and gas engineering business at 45 William Street.

A William Brown, possibly a saddler, is named as the first occupant of the house in 1892.  Other house residents include the Best, Morrison and Houston families.  The house also served as a business premises with the solicitor firm Campbell and Haughey operating from here from 1978 to 1989.

In recent years the property entered a period of dereliction. 49 William Street has since been designated a high priority project in the Lurgan Townscape Heritage Scheme. Work commenced in August 2024 . At the completion of works one 2 bedroomed apartment and a duplex 3 bedroom apartment will be created.
